Crocuses 04:17
There’s snow on the crocuses, snow… There’s snow on the crocuses, crocuses, crocuses… That’s how it goes… I see the way the light comes in the room… I see the way you reach for it, reach for it, reach for it… I reach for it too…

What’s the sense in trying to be good enough When you’re already the best What’s the sense in wishing you were younger When you know you’re in your prime What’s the sense Ahh What’s the sense Ahh What’s the sense Ahh What’s the sense What’s the sense in being an artist if you color in the lines What’s the sense in listening to anyone else When you’ve already made up your mind What’s the sense Ahh What’s the sense Ahh What’s the sense Ahh What’s the sense

The Water 04:41
I’m afraid of the water, I’m afraid of the deep I’m afraid of the water, and the secrets it keeps And what do you start with, after seventeen years Were we ever finished, was it ever real I have an idea, and it makes me feel new I get rocks in my stomach, when I tell it to you And maybe it’s pleasure, who stole my joy And maybe it’s freedom, who took the boy But it’s highly unlikely, they’re gone for good The water is rushing, the water is good I go down to the water, I go down to the deep, I go down to the water, and the secrets it keeps And do you feel settled, surrounded by books, And the creative hustle, and maintaining your looks And maybe it’s you, who opened so wide, And maybe it’s me, who stepped aside I go down to the water, I go down to the deep, I go down to the water, and the secrets it keeps

about

There’s something about the number three: a third album, containing three songs, written after the third occurrence of the same injury… And perhaps there is something charmed in all of it. This digital EP is my third release, and also happens to also be the result of having no intention to write or sing again. Following the third time I hemorrhaged her left vocal chord, a 10 day initiation into the world of meditation, a seemingly miraculous healing thereafter, and a fallow period of musical output – this mini collection of songs flowed involuntarily during winter walks from one teaching gig to the next.

I hope you enjoy it!

I am so grateful for your support, past and present.

Love,
Katie

about

Katie Mullins Brooklyn, New York

On Katie Mullins’ third release, Three Songs, the magic of threes is in full effect: a brew of her signature haunting vocals taken to another level, with glowing overdubbed choruses that seem to weave witchery, and the charisma of unassuming candor.
